Montreal police have confirmed the arrest of a suspect in the murder of Tricia Boisvert.

Philippe Steele-Morin, 30, was detained in Gatineau Monday, two weeks after a Canada-wide warrant was issued for his arrest.

He was arrested by Ottawa police on Route 303 at 2:30 p.m., Montreal police said, adding that they will question him in a Gatineau police station.

Boisvert was killed in late January, apparently after being forcibly taken from her Montreal home.

Her remains were found several days later in the village of Quyon, about 250 kilometres west of Montreal.

Police issued the Canada-wide warrant on Feb. 24, and a $5,000 reward from Sun Youth was also issued.

Steele will appear in a Montreal courthouse Tuesday, where he is expected to be charged with second-degree murder.

Montreal police thanked the police forces in Ottawa and Gatineau for their help in tracking down Steele-Morin.
