MONTREAL - Police have arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with the arson of an Italian café earlier this week.

Café Danesi, located in Rivière-des-Prairies, was set ablaze early Monday morning.

Dave St-Michel appeared in provincial court on Wednesday to face charges related to the incident.

The sprinkler system kicked in and doused the flames quickly, so damage was limited to broken windows and a few scorch marks.

Police are still searching for a second suspect in relation to the incident, a white man in his twenties. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and light jeans at the time of the incident.

Earlier this month, would-be arsonists tried to burn down the same café, but they ran off after breaking the window and setting off the burglar alarm.

Pasquale Cammisano, one of the café/bar's owners, told CTV Montreal earlier this week he had no idea why anyone would attack his café.

There have been more than a dozen firebombings of restaurants and stores in Montreal since August.
