Two apartments in a high rise building in Cote Saint Luc were badly damaged by a fire on Tuesday afternoon.

The fire began just before noon in a computer room in one of the penthouses at 5120 Macdonald Ave.

Crews evacuated the building -- about 30 people were home at the time -- while they put out the fire.

The flames spread to the roof where they caused significant amounts of damage.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, but the water used to put out the flames damaged the neighbouring unit.

Both apartments will be uninhabitable until the damage is repaired.

Nobody was hurt, and the other residents were allowed to return home once the fire was out.
