UPDATE: Jade has been found. More details here.

Montreal police have launched an investigation into a missing 16-year-old girl.

Jade Marechal lives in Rosemont, but was last seen at a party at a motel on St-Jacques St. in NDG on Sunday.

Her mother, Claire Lecarpentier hasn't slept much since Sunday night, as her life is now focused on finding her daughter, who has no history of running away.

“We haven't heard anything from her since Sunday,” Lecarpentier said, adding that Jade's phone is off and the voicemail is full.

The last time Jade spoke to her mother was Sunday night, when she said she was going to a sleepover at a friend's house.

Instead her father said the teen joined a group that rented three rooms at the Chabrol Hotel on St. Jacques near Cavendish Blvd.

Hotel staff said police came by as part of their investigation, but wouldn't say if security cameras caught the teen leaving the hotel.

Jade's mother is worried something happened to her.

“She's a very sociable person who's usually careful about the friends she picks,” she said, adding, though that her daughter can be both adventurous and naive.

She's described as 5'8, with blue eyes, and light brown hair. She has a temporary tattoo on her left hand and speaks both French and English.

If Jade simply ran away, her mother hopes she hears her message: “We just want you to come home, that’s all,” she said through tears.

Police are urging anyone who might have seen her to call 911.
