Marcel Aubut has resigned from his law firm in the wake of a sexual harassment scandal.
The former head of the Canadian Olympic Committee offered an unconditional apology for his actions toward women, and apologized to his family for his actions.
"I infinitely regret having hurt so many people who certainly did not deserve it. I hope that one day these people will be able to forgive me," said Aubut.
He also resigned from his law firm, BCF, saying he was entirely responsible for what he had done, and had received a brutal wake-up call.
"I have no one to blame but myself," he said. "I will now do everything I can to become a better person."
Last month several women lodged complaints with the Canadian Olympic Committee against Aubut for sexual misconduct.
Amelia Salehabadi-Fouques of Soccer Canada told CTV Montreal that Aubut harassed her several times in 2011.
According to her, Aubut booked a hotel room for her under his name, kissed her outside a restaurant, tried to enter her hotel room and, in front of her son, asked her to have sex with him.
Aubut, 67, was the president of the COC, and the chair of the Canadian Olympic Foundation, the COC's fundraising arm but he resigned from his positions with the COC this past weekend. A sexual harassment complaint filed with the COC was withdrawn following the resignation.
Aubut was also a chief executive officer of the NHL's Quebec Nordiques until the team moved to Colorado in 1995.
Aubut did not take questions at his news conference, but said he is now undergoing counselling for his behaviour.
