A 22-year-old man is recovering after being shot Monday night in Montreal North.

Police Constable Anie Lemieux said the victim was with a group of people outside an apartment building on Rolland Blvd. near Marie-Victorin around 11:50 p.m.

"According to witnesses two cars were seen stopped in front of this place, and shots were fired," said Lemieux.

The cars immediately fled, while the victim's friends called 911.

The victim was rushed to hospital and treated for gunshot wounds to his arm and leg.

Police are now trying to determine what sparked the attack, by talking to neighbours, witnesses and the victim.

This is the fourth person injured or killed by gunfire in Montreal in the past few days.

On Saturday morning one man was killed and a bystander wounded when a gunman opened fire at the corner of St. Laurent and Duluth.

A few hours before that, a 38-year-old man was shot in an alley west of Ste. Famille St. at Milton St.
