A Montrealer accused of uttering death threats on his Facebook page is also going to be charged with possessing child pornography.

Crown prosecutor Steeve Lariviere said Wednesday David Abitbol will face the additional charges in the near future.

"The new evidence that was found by police is that juvenile pornography was found on his computer and that new accusations will be laid against the accused," said Lariviere.

Abitbol's lawyer Charles Benmuyan said the defence requires more information before proceeding.

"We were informed that such files were found on his computer, but we do not know yet the history of consultation of these files, so we don't know if my client can be linked to the actual possession of these links," said Benmuyan.

Abitbol's scheduled bail hearing has been put off until Oct. 13.

Crown attorneys say hundreds of troubling pictures were allegedly found on Abitbol's computer.

The number of charges he will face is unclear because police are still analyzing the computer.

Further, publicity surrounding his arrest has triggered more calls to police from his entourage which may reveal more information.

Abitbol's parents, who were ready to post bail Monday and had defended their son by saying the threat charges were all a misunderstanding, were conspicuously absent from court Wednesday.
