A 38-year-old man was stabbed to death early Saturday morning in a Lachine apartment.

A fight broke out around midnight between the victim, a 42-year-old man, and a 55-year-old woman in an apartment on Sherbrooke St. near 14th Ave. The trio were apparently drunk, police say.

The victim sustained life-threatening injuries, while the woman was also seriously injured. Her life is not in danger.

Police arrested the alleged attacker upon arriving at the scene. The suspect, who sustained minor injuries, is meeting with investigators.

"The man we arrested is a 42 yr old man. He is known to police and he'll be questioned later on today by the investigators," said Montreal police spokesperson Manuel Couture.

This is the 24th homicide of the year in Montreal.
