POINTE CLAIRE - At Curves gym in Pointe Claire they promise their 30 minute workout will make you stronger, healthier and burn 500 calories.

But there's another appeal: The gym is just for women.

The women here become friends who talk about everything including the election.

So far the attack ads and the overall lack of charisma are turning people off.

"Some of the ads that you see on television right now, I'm not a big fan of putting people down," said one woman.

"I think it's boring. There's not too much personality that comes and get me," said another.

But they're still paying attention and they do have strong opinions, which could be why 27 percent of women have yet to decide who to vote for.

Another reason for the disconnect could be the lack of women in federal politics.

When parliament was dissolved there were 67 female MPs, less than 22 percent of elected officials.

The leaders of the four main parties are men, and the one prominent female leader, Elizabeth May, is excluded from the televised debates.

Myrna, the trainer at Curves, believes the male ego is getting in the way of progress.

"It feels to me like people are there because 'oh my gawd, we don't have the power, we have to get the power back to this party.' It's not really looking after the people," said Myrna.
