TOWN OF MOUNT ROYAL - Montreal businessman Reza Mohammad Tehrani-Cohen, allegedly kidnapped Monday afternoon, has been found.

Tehrani-Cohen was released in north-end Montreal late Tuesday afternoon after he was abducted from the Town of Mount Royal at 5:45 p.m. the day before.

He was near 5500 Royalmount Ave., between Devonshire Rd. and Royden Rd., when witnesses say two or three white men forced him into a beige Jeep Liberty.

A witness tried to follow the Jeep, but lost it in traffic.

The licence plate of the car is FGM1044, but early Tuesday morning police confirmed that the vehicle was stolen before being used in the kidnapping.

Tehrani-Cohen is the owner of the Aviron Technical Institute, which offers courses in everything from welding to auto mechanics to security.

Officers from the Montreal police major crimes unit met with him Tuesday afternoon to determine what happened. No other details have been provided so far, but police have confirmed he was not injured.

The trade school's manager, Ramy Suissa, cannot understand the kidnapping.

"I wouldn't know where to connect the school or his business dealings... Nothing makes sense," said Suissa.

Tehrani-Cohen, who has five children, has been involved in several criminal cases. He was due back in court on Nov. 16 as the co-accused in a million-dollar fraud case that began in 2006.

Last year, he was acquitted on charges of theft and conspiracy.
