Funeral services for Karine Faubert, the 21-year-old woman whose body was found Friday in the Southern Quebec town of Godmanchester, will take place Saturday August 27 at the church in her hometown of Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague.

Faubert's car was found in that same church's parking lot on Sunday night, but if the vehicle has revealed any clues as to who killed Faubert, police are staying quiet.

The Surete du Quebec has spent several days scouring the woods and cornfields around the rural trail where Faubert's body was discovered.

She had been shot and killed, with her body abandoned 300 metres from the closest road on a trail known only to locals.

A makeshift memorial has sprung up at the spot, and family and friends are still shocked by young woman's death.

"She had this willingness to go up to people and talk to them. She had a big heart," said Gabriel Asselin.

On Friday Faubert was supposed to meet a friend at a park near the bridge that separates Valleyfield from Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague, about half an hour's drive away from where her body was found.

Police say they do not yet have a motive for the crime.
