The Canadiens practised Sunday in Brossard for about 80 minutes, a day after their first win of the pre-season.

Mike Condon stopped all 17 shots he faced Saturday night in a 1-0 shutout of the Toronto Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre.

In limited pre-season action, the 25-year-old hasn't allowed a goal on 38 shots he has faced. He's competing to unseat Dustin Tokarski, who backed up Carey Price last season and replaced him late in the 2014 playoffs.

But Michel Therrien put a damper on some of those good vibes from Saturday night – the team announced their second wave of cuts before practice.

Nine players have been assigned to the St. John's Ice Caps, the Habs’ AHL affiliate. The biggest name is Michael McCarron, who impressed in the rookie camp and also scored in the Habs pre-season opener.

Jeremy Grégoire, Darren Dietz, Joel Hanley, Daniel Carr, Bud Holloway, Christian Thomas, Gabriel Dumont and Morgan Ellis were also sent down. Holloway, Thomas, Dumont and Ellis will have to clear waivers before reporting to St. John's. In total, 31 players remain at Canadiens camp.

Other notes from practice: Max Pacioretty skated in drills with this linemates for the first time. Noah Juulsen, this year’s first round pick, also skated with the team after missing the opening days with a concussion.

The Habs next game is Monday night in Quebec City against Pittsburgh.
