Organizers of one of the largest parties to take place during Grand Prix weekend joke that they close their eyes whenever they look at the bills.

"There's about 1,000 bottles of liquor ordered for this event," said Katia Piccolino,

About 700 guests will attend the $400-a-ticket Ritz Infinity gala at the Ritz Carlton hotel, and for that price guests get to enjoy a brilliantly glamourous event and get up close and personal with multi-million dollar race cars.

The day before the party F1 cars were lowered by crane from the street to the hotel's courtyard, then pushed into the Oval room where the party takes place.

"There's staff on call 24 hours a day, working nights, working days to make sure this is all done," said Piccolino.

Most attendees also stay at the Ritz for the Grand Prix weekend, paying $1,000 a night for four nights.

Piccolino calls it Montreal's answer to the Toronto International Film Festival.

On Thursday evening another gala dinner was held at the Arsenal in Griffintown. Grand Prix Canada invited celebrities and local guests to attend a dinner with proceeds going toward the Moisson Montreal food bank and the Sacré Coeur Hospital foundation.
