A 4-year-old girl is in hospital in serious condition after a near-drowning in the Cote-St-Luc swimming pool Tuesday afternoon.

The young girl was pulled out of the public pool on Mackle Rd. by a swimmer at 5:30 p.m. The pool's manager immediately performed CPR on the girl.

Paramedics and police arrived at the scene within minutes. She was taken to hospital.

"When the child left here, the child was revived," said David Taveroff, the director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Cote St. Luc, who couldn't provide more details.

Taveroff couldn't say if the girl was conscious when she left the pool, but he confirmed that she had a pulse.

The pool staff is speaking with police about the event.
