Workers at a daycare in Montreal walked off the job Monday morning.

Employees of CPE Cardio-Puces said they were staging a three-hour strike because after one year of negotiations they still do not have a contract.

That means the parents of 122 children have to find alternative care.

The employees of the daycare say 85 parents who use their services are employees of the same company: the Montreal Heart Institute on Belanger St.

Striking workers said the lone outstanding point is being paid for a half-hour lunch, which they contend is common practice throughout daycares in Quebec.

Employees say they will hold other protests if their demands are not met.
