Two of Canada's Olympic golden girls were honoured Thursday at Dawson College.

Hockey stars Marie-Philip Poulin and Catherine Ward had their Dawson Blues numbers retired.

Pretty impressive for a teenager and a 23-year-old who were students at the school not too long ago.

"I've been walking around just recognizing some faces," said Poulin. "I was here a year ago, now with this around my neck, it's pretty special!"

Poulin scored both goals for Canada in the gold-medal final of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games.

After graduating from Dawson in 2006, then attending McGill and playing for the Martlets, Ward now attends Boston college.

Since the Winter Games, Harvard and other U.S. schools have been courting Poulin.

Their former coach credits them for putting Dawson's team on the map.

"It's sad to see her go, but I was very proud," said Scott Lambton.

He says the pair inspired teammates with the passion for the game.

"We watched the final as a team this year, and indescribable moments for sure," Lambton said.

There will be more praise and cheers for the duo, and the rest of Canada's Olympic and Paralympic athletes, at Friday's parade.

"It's going to be a great moment," said Ward. "One of the best memories we have and we'll remember all of our lives."

The parade starts at 11:30 a.m. at the corner of Ste-Catherine and Fort, with ten floats making their way to Phillips Square, where the celebration will continue until 2:30 p.m.
