A former Canada Border Services Agency guard at Trudeau airport will avoid jail time, despite her role in a plot to import large quantities of cocaine through the airport five years ago.
Nancy Cedeno was found guilty last year of corruption, but avoided convictions for conspiracy to import drugs and gangsterism.
Cedeno would pre-stamp customs cards in exchange for money so drug couriers could clear customs without being searched.
The procesution requested five years behind bars, but Cedeno urged to judge for clemency, arguing she was experiencing major depression at the time she accepted the bribe.
Cedeno has spent two years less a day in the community, including the first year under house arrest.
"I've been paying for a mistake that I've made, and I just want to turn the page," said Cedeno.
The customs agent was originally arrested and charged in connection with a raid against mobsters in 2006.
One accomplice was sentenced to three years in prison, while another received a 14-year-sentence.
Both sentences are being appealed.
