MONTREAL - Quebec's Transportation Ministry is closing down one of the eastbound lanes of the Honoré-Mercier Bridge toward Montreal. The ministry says the closure is necessary to allow for repair work.

On Wednesday, workers began work installing a temporary steel plaque on a damaged slab.

Repair works on the slab is planned for Thursday, Jan. 19, between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m., weather permitting. One lane will be closed towards Montreal during this period.

Weekend closures are also planned for the southbound Louis H. Lafontaine Tunnel towards Longueuil.

It will be closed all day Sunday, Jan. 22, starting at midnight and reopening Monday, early morning.
