UPDATE: Montreal police confirm the body of Cottard was found in the Notre-Dame Basin at Parc Jean-Drapeau on April 20, 2015. They do not believe it was a criminal matter.

Police investigators are calling on the public’s help to solve the mystery of David Jean Cottard’s disappearance.

They set up a command post Thursday morning at the corner of Ste. Catherine and St. Urbain street. It is scheduled to be there until 8 p.m.

Cottard was last seen December 15th, 2014 when he went out on his lunch break from his downtown Montreal office, near The Bay. He never returned.

"He was seen at the AMT Desjardins doing a transaction and after that we have completely lost the sight of him," said Const. Danny Richer.

"That's why we are here today, we want to talk with some workers with some people who might have seen him on December 15th or anyone else who might have information.

We know it's here the last time he was seen."

The 42-year-old lives in Joliette and is originally from France. His family says he is not in the habit of taking off without telling anyone. His brother, Aurelien Cottard, came from Brazil to help in the search.

At the time he spoke with CTV News on Christmas Eve, he explained, "This is nothing like the person we know so this is why we are extremely worried."

The day of his disappearance, Cottard was wearing jeans, a black sweater and a dark green jacket. Cottard stands 5’8” (1.72m) and weighs 250 lbs (113.5 kg).

The public can also call police at 514-393-1133.

A Facebook page has been set up to help spread the word.
