A three-year-old boy with autism has gone missing near the Mille Iles River in the Auteuil district of Laval.

Laval police said the child went missing from a home on Pointe-aux-Ormes Rd. at 1 p.m. He was visiting family and playing outside when he was noticed missing, said police.

The boy, named Adam Benhamma has autism, and is also deaf and mute. He weighs 25 lbs. and has black hair.

As many as 30 police officers are searching the nearby wooded area with dogs and an ATV, along with firefighters and a Surete du Quebec helicopter.

"It's pretty difficult, that's why we had four-wheelers and the cooperation of the Surete du Quebec. We needed a better view," said Laval police Sgt. Simon Charette.

Police are asking anyone who may spot the boy to call 9-1-1 and approach him very calmly and gently.
