Residents of most of Longueuil no longer have to boil their water to ensure it's safe.

The exception: people who live on Montee Saint Hubert between Normand Ave. and Maricourt Blvd and have an odd-numbered street address.

On Tuesday night the city of Longueuil discovered the water supply in Saint-Hubert and Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville was contaminated with e. coli bacteria, most likely due to a temporary water main installed in one neighbourhood.

After several days of testing the contamination has been limited to a few blocks of one street.

It's not known when those houses and stores will once again be getting clean water.
