Emma Donoghue, David Bergen and Madeleine Thien are among the authors who have made the long list for the Scotiabank Giller Prize.

Bergen is up for his novel "Stranger," while Thien made the cut for "Do Not Say We Have Nothing" and Donoghue is in the running for "The Wonder."

Bergen won the Giller in 2005 for "The Time in Between." Thien's novel is also up for the Man Booker Prize.

Donoghue's previous books include the celebrated 2010 novel "Room."

The long list of 12 titles was chosen from 161 books submitted by 69 publishers.

The prize will be handed out Nov. 7.
