The municipal court house was busy Monday with some of the 221 people arrested in connection with the anti-police brutality march held on Sunday.

Of those arrested, 198 were men, 23 were women. Forty-one of those arrested were minors.

The majority of those arrested, 189, were released after being given a $100 ticket for attending an illegal demonstration.

A demonstration is considered illegal after police have told gatheres to disperse.

Of the 32 people who were arrested and brought to the police station, 15 of them were released on a promise to appear in court at a later date.

Seventeen people stayed behind bars on a mix of charges including mischief, theft, assault and possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes.

It is this group of people who are waiting to be seen by a judge. It is expected most of them will have to ask for bail.
