Andre Dawson will enter the Baseball Hall of Fame as a member of the Montreal Expos instead of the Chicago Cubs, according to a published report out of the windy city.

The Chicago Tribune says it received a text message from Dawson saying the Hall will announce Wednesday that he will "go in as an Expo.''

Dawson spent the first 11 seasons of his career in Montreal, batting .285 with 225 home runs and 838 RBI. The Hawk was named an all-star three times and won the National League Rookie of the Year Award in 1977.

He joined the Cubs in 1987 as a free agent and ended up winning the NL MVP Award after batting .287 with a league-leading 49 home runs and 137 RBI.

Dawson played six years with the Cubs, then two with the Boston Red Sox and two with the Florida Marlins before retiring after the 1996 season.

Dawson will be the second player to be inducted into the Hall of Fame as a member of the Expos, joining catcher Gary Carter.
