The Agence metropolitain de transport invited commuters to a meeting in Pierrefonds Tuesday night where the transit company boasted about improvements and discussed future plans.
Questions to AMT officials, including president Joel Gauthier, ran the gamut but most of the information focused on improved service.
By spring 2012, 160 new double-decker cars will be divided among all the lines, providing more seating.
The Two Mountains line will be extended until Saint Eustache, and stations will be improved along that line with some getting additional parking spaces, said officials from the AMT.
This fall there will be electronic billboards in stations, while in Vaudreuil they are testing new outdoor shelters with radiant heating.
The AMT is also implicated in the major Turcot Interchange reconstruction announced Tuesday.
"Part of the mandate that we received from the ministry today was to make sure that we implement a plan to relieve congestion. Part of that plan we will increase services on the train, increase services on buses, and there will be reserved lane.
Gauthier said commuters should expect a fare hike in 2011 of 1.5 per cent.
