MONTREAL - The thousands of Alouettes fans that left early Thursday missed a dramatic comeback as the birds pulled out a dramatic 33-32 victory against the visiting Calgary Stampeders.

The victory came thanks largely to a Jerald Brown interception with less than two minutes to play, followed by Anthony Calvillo’s two-yard TD pass to Patrick Lavoie.

With the Alouettes (2-1) trailing 32-27, Brown picked Kevin Glenn’s on the 34-yard line and brought it to the doorstep.

He fumbled the ball but teammate Kyries Hebert made recovered to maintain possession.

Two subsequent attempts to run the ball into the end zone failed, leading to the last-chance TD reception.

A two-point conversion failed, leaving the Als a mere point ahead.

The Alouettes’ defense then recovered from a difficult evening to then stop the Stampeders (1-2) from advancing into field goal territory on their subsequent possession.

Calvillo ended the game 23 for 38 with 325 yards and three touchdowns, including a spectacular 69-yard completion to Brian Bratton. SJ Green scored two TDs and Adrian McPherson scored the other TD on a short yardage quarterback sneak.
