After a break for winter, work on the Ile-Aux-Tourtes bridge will begin again on Monday.

Work on the bridge’s pillars began last August but were suspended in November. The bridge also had extensive repairs through January and February after a crack was discovered in December.

Bridge closures in both directions will continue until October, 2016.

One of the bridge’s lanes will be permanently closed until July 2016 due to repairs on a supporting beam.

Three lanes will be open on weekdays between 4:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. to allow for peak traffic periods.

In January, then-Quebec Transport Minister Robert Poeti acknowledged the bridge at Montreal’s western tip is at the end of its lifespan but said the repairs should keep it safe for another ten years.
