According to a report on NHL.com, his agent Allan Walshsaid they were led to believe Drouin was brought down to the American League’s Syracuse team for conditioning and to show other clubs he was healthy.

He has had two goals and one assist in seven games with the Crunch.

On Monday, CTV Montreal’s Brian Wilde reported that a strong source confirms Habs General Manager Marc Bergevin is making “a huge push today putting a more significant package on table to acquire Drouin.”
The Habs' assistant general manager Rick Dudley was in Syracuse, watching two Crunch games last weekend.
