An Ontario man has been arrested in Kitchener, Ont. in connection to a June homicide in the St-Vincent-St-Paul area of Laval.
Laval police said 29-year-old Ontario native Mitchell Robert Cousins was arrested Tuesday night for the killing of Ferdinando Belmonte on June 28. The operation also involved members of the Waterloo regional police force.
A police spokesperson said a search of Cousins’s home has uncovered more evidence and more than 20 witnesses will be interviewed in Kitchener, Laval and Montreal.
The suspect appeared in court in Ontario on Wednesday and will be extradited to Quebec. He face a murder charge though police said more charges are likely.
Belmonte, 22, was shot in a residence on Levesque Blvd. and was declared dead at the scene.
