A stretch of Sherbrooke St. West has been evacuated after a gas leak on Saturday morning.
The leak began after a 3 ¼ inch pipe was severed during construction work at 11:45 a.m.
Several residences in the area were evacuated as was a section of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, according to a museum official.
Traffic on Sherbrooke was not affected as the stretch of road was already closed for construction.
Firefighters and Montreal police are on the scene to assist Gaz Metro in repairs.
