Immacula Eugene, a caregiver who beat six seniors and threatened another with a gun at a seniors home in St. Lambert will have to wait to learn her punishment, as her sentencing hearing at Longueuil court has been delayed until a later date.

The delay was ordered after the defence and crown both reported to the judge Wednesday that they were not ready to proceed. A new hearing has yet to be scheduled.

Immacula Eugene was arrested last December along with colleague Marie-Margaret Petime. They were aged 51 and 46, respectively, at the time.

Both had passed rigorous checks before getting hired in 2010 at the Saint-Lambert sur le Golf, a 200-bed long-term seniors' residence.

Eugene was also accused of drug trafficking and administering a noxious substance to an elderly patient.

The two women were held in custody from December 2013 until February 18, 2014.

Eugene pleaded guilty to five of the six charges against her on February 17 and faces a two year sentence.

One of the victims was an 87-year-old woman whose family installed a hidden security camera in the room, which became evidence in the case. The 87-year-old woman has since passed away.
