Jason Morand has been a racer car driver for four years and says it is as fun as it looks.

"The adrenalin rush, the control of speed, everything," said Jason Morand, describing some of the best elements of the sport.

It's a thrill that he showed signs of enjoying at a young age.

He used to take the lawn mower for a spin when he was just a kid.

His grandpa, a former race car driver, says he knew he had it in him long before then.

“I got up to look at a car, kick tires, he came up behind me in his diaper and kicked the tires and I said, ‘that's it, there's our racer,’”

said his grandfather Buddy Wells, who is also an engine builder.

Morand got his track license when he was 14 and there's been no stopping him since. Last year he had three feature wins, eight top fives, 10 top tens and set the track record twice.

He was named Vice Champion, Rookie of the Year and Newcomer of the Year.

“He’s very calm inside and out of the car and he studies the other drivers a lot and he gets the tracks really quick,” said Vincent Maheu, car builder and coach.

Both his stepdad and his grandpa had no idea he'd be this good. They believe he has what it takes to make it to the very to and for Jason it would be a dream come true.

“I would like to get to Nascar in the United States. That's one of my main dreams and to get to the Nextel Cup," said Morand.

Not bad for someone who just got his real license a couple of months ago.
