Montreal police blocked off several blocks in the Plateau during the lunch hour while they investigated reports of gunshots.
Police received a 9-1-1 call from someone who heard multiple gunshots around noon near the intersection of St. Denis St. and Mont Royal Ave.
Nearly an hour later police had yet to find any sign of a victim, or evidence that a gun had been fired.
About 12:45 p.m. officers re-opened the street to traffic.
