Montreal police went door-to-door in Cote-des-Neiges on Monday in an attempt to find witnesses to an attempted murder.

On July 16, just before 5 a.m., several shots were fired on Linton Avenue, near Decelles. A man, 32, was hit a number of times before being found by police on his back, lying on the ground and bleeding profusely from wounds in the upper and lower body.

He was transported to hospital, and it was determined that his injuries were serious—the man will have long-term health issues.

The victim was known to police.

Officers at the command post, located at 3335 Linton Ave, went door-to-door and intervieed residents in hopes of locating witnesses or the suspect.

A preliminary description of the suspect has him as a 30-something black male, standing 1.75 m tall and weighing 80 kg (5'7", 175 lbs). Police believe he is well-built, but may have a bit of a gut.

He is French-speaking, and wears his hair in ear-length dreadlocks that are dyed blonde at the tips.

At the time of the shooting, he was wearing a dress shirt with a white t-shirt underneath. He was wearing black Dickies pants and was driving a blue hatchback with black wheels without mags.

Police also previously stated that the perpetrator may have been inside a car when the shots were fired.

The SPVM is appealing to all witnesses or people with information to come forward and meet with them at the command post or contact them at 911, via Info-Crime at 514-393-1133, or by filling out a form on their website.
