For the second straight day the FRAPRU social housing lobby group was forced to pull the plug on its bid to set up a tent settlement downtown as an expression of protest against provincial budget cuts to social housing.

Several dozen protesters set up tents on the lawn of a property near Pine and St. Denis but police ordered the tents immediately removed.

The protesters complied however police gave out eight tickets for $480 each after some protesters blocked traffic.

The tickets were handed out under Highway code 500.1 which forbids people from obstructing traffic.

A pair of protesters were also arrested for undisclosed reasons, possibly due to probation violations.
