Pierre Karl Peladeau's girlfriend has died, in what appears to be a suicide.
Police were called at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday to come to the Outremont home of Marie-Christine Couture.
Officers said the 33-year-old woman appeared to have taken her own life.
"That's one of the theories they are looking at. The case is still under investigation," said Const. Benoit Boisselle.
Peladeau showed up at the home shortly thereafter and spent the morning talking with police, according to La Presse.
Couture was one of three former owners of the Laurier BBQ when the group brought in celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay to update the menu and restaurant.
Couture had been in a common-law relationship with Daniel Lacombe since 2009 but separated earlier this year.
They started official divorce proceedings, including the necessary steps to arrange child custody, on Tuesday after Lacombe learned that Couture and Peladeau had been dating for several months.
