The Quebec Liberal Party is on the defensive again, while the opposition keeps up the pressure on Premier Philippe Couillard.

For a week, the Liberals have been dealing with troubling allegations and embarrassing revelations.

The latest: Questions about former Liberal Party organizer Violette Trépanier.
The Quebecor media chain obtained emails that appear to contradict Trépanier's testimony at the Charbonneau Commission.

The emails suggest there was a system in place that rewarded Liberal Party donors with partisan political nominations.

“The funding officer of the Liberal Party, Violette Trépanier, orchestrated appointments with the public service. And she also had a word to say in contracts with the government,” said CAQ leader Francois Legault. “Instead of being the premier of all Quebecers, (Couillard) chooses to defend the Liberal family.”

“It's a scandal,” added PQ leader Jean-Francois Lisee.

“We should get to the bottom of it. We should have the people responsible be charged and sentenced, and just move on. And I'm frustrated that we can't move on. And I hope we can move on before the next election.”

The Liberals say they want to move on too, but the opposition is stuck in the past.

“Things have changed in Quebec, and the questions that are raised at the National Assembly this morning. The questions that have been raised for a week are from the past. They don't respond to anything that is happening here in Quebec today. So let's face the future. Quebec is progressing,” said Public Security Minister Martin Coiteux.
