No one was injured after a building collapse went wrong in the eastern end of downtown Tuesday afternoon.

Demolition had already begun on the building, which is on Ste. Catherine St. near St. André St. A security perimeter was erected around the demolition site.

One of the walls of the building collapsed outward instead of inward, as planned. Pieces of debris spilled onto the sidewalk but no one was hurt.

Ste. Catherine was closed between St. Hubert and Amherst Sts. as crews hosed down the debris and tore down the rest of the building.

No other buildings in the area were damaged.
