The manufacturer of Blackberry is facing more bad news. Even though RIM is offering free applications as compensation, a Montreal law firm has launched a class action lawsuit after customers worldwide say their ability to use the devices crippled earlier this month.

Investment Analyst Troy Crandall of MacDougall, MacDougall and MacTier says the company is overpromising and underperforming.

"Just a couple days ago they announced that the new version of their Playbook software is going to be further delayed. Originally when it came out in April it was supposed to have an update 60 days later but then that got pushed to summer, then October, and now pushed to February," said Crandall.

"They essentially invented the smartphone market, so at one point they had 100% market share," said Crandall. "They sat on their laurels too long and Apple came out and revolutionized the smartphone and rim found themselves behind the rest."
