The city of Montreal has offered $4 million to Formula 1 racing as compensation for a two-year delay in the construction of new paddocks for the Gilles Villeneuve Raceway.

According to a La Presse report, in return, the city will get a five year extension that will guarantee it will host the Canadian Grand Prix between 2025 and 2029.

No agreement has been signed yet but an announcement could take place in coming weeks. The agreement must be finalized to commence selling tickets for the 2017 edition of the race, tentatively scheduled for June 11.
