A 41-year-old man suffered stab wounds after being attacked in a peep show downtown Thursday morning.

The victim was taken to hospital after police officers found him at around 3 a.m. a short distance away from the establishment at the corner of Ste. Catherine St. and Ste. Elizabeth St. The establishment consists of closed booths where pornographic movies play.

The victim sustained knife wounds to the upper body but his injuries are not life-threatening, said ambulance operation chief Stephane Smith.

Police investigators blocked off a section of Ste. Catherine Street to speak with witnesses.

Const. Jean-Pierre Brabant said the victim is known to police.

No arrests have been made.

Only a few peep show establishments still linger on Montreal streets since the recent closure of a pair on the Lower Main.

At least one person has been fatally injured in a Montreal peep show incident. On Oct. 24, 1992, Jay Arrington, 33, of Buffalo, N.Y., died of a fractured skull during a fight in a St. Laurent Blvd. peep show.
