Montreal police arrested a 19-year-old man Monday evening for threatening to use his taser on another man.

He was at a residence on Ste. Catherine St. near Montcalm when he got into an argument with someone in the apartment.

The dispute escalated and the young man showed the other residents he was armed with a taser and then left.

He was picked up by police soon after 11:30 p.m. and officers recommended he be charged with possession of a prohibited weapon.

Constable Raphael Bergeron explained that it’s illegal to own a taser weapon, as they can only be carried by police officers.
