The main building of a well-known sports centre in the Quebec City area, Mont Tourbillon, has been destroyed by fire.

No one was injured.

The fire started on Tuesday evening at about 10 p.m. It is still so far unclear how it began. At 6 a.m. Wednesday, the fire was still burning, and firefighters expect to continue to fight it over the course of the morning.

The main building at Mont Tourbillon accommodated up to 600 people for receptions. The centre also features an 18-hole golf course and a snow slide.

Mont Tourbillon is in Lac-Beauport and was founded in 1962. Michel Noël has owned it since 1977.
