Montreal's Eugenie Bouchard is through to the fourth round at the Australian Open after beating France's Caroline Garcia in straight sets 7-5, 6-0.

Bouchard had to battle a tough Garcia in a lengthy first set before she prevailed 7-5.

Garcia, however, did not fare as well in the second set, however, as Bouchard breezed through without losing a game.

Garcia, world ranked 36th, only held serve twice in the entire match and hit 14 double faults, against four by Bouchard.

Bouchard, as is custom, was interviewed on court after the match but this time the questions remained strictly related to her performance after being asked to twirl to show her outfit following an earlier victory.

"I don't think it was the prettiest tennis out there today," she said.

Bouchard will next face either the Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu (ranked 42) or Germany's Carina Witthoeft (ranked 104).

A victory in the round of 16 could put Bouchard on course to battle Maria Sharapova in the quarter finals.

Bouchard, 20, reached the semifinals or better at three of the four Grand Slam tournaments last year, including the Australian Open.
