One of the two men killed in a double homicide in Vaudreuil-Dorion Thursday is Joseph Fluet, who reports say was linked to the Rock Machine biker gang.

The investigation began Thursday when police reported the discovery of what they said was a badly injured man in a wooded area on Alstonvale Way near Harwood.

The victim was rushed to hospital where his death was pronounced.

Several hours later, as police were searching the area, they came across a second man whose death was also pronounced in hospital.

Police spent the night at the scene, and continued searching the area for clues on Friday.

It was Friday when police confirmed that one of the deceased was Fluet, who was named in a 2014 report in La Presse as having ties to the Rock Machine, and had been arrested, along with other gang members, for possession of prohibited weapons.

Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Ingrid Asselin would not confirm that Fluet was a member of a gang, and only said that the two victims were men in their 40s, and that one had gang affiliations.

Police do not have any description of any potential vehicles or attackers involved in the deaths.

Gunshots heard in early afternoon

Witnesses heard the gunshots shortly after 1 p.m. Thursday.

Jackie Nadeau, who lives near the intersection, initially dismissed what she heard.

“I was on the phone with a friend. I heard the gunshots from my apartment. I ran upstairs because it startled me, and I said it sounded like gunshots and I came up and looked over in that direction because that’s where I thought it came from and I said, ‘Oh, I must be crazy’ everything was quiet. There was nothing. There weren’t any people around or a car around or anything moving on the street. It was peaceful,” she said.

Later on she realized what had happened.

""I watched them take the body out and then later in the afternoon they were taking a body out again," said Nadeau.
