MONTREAL - A 12-year-old boy accused of shooting his 16-year-old brother to death in Dorval on January 21, 2013 faces a maximum three year sentence after pleading guilty to a lesser charge.
The young man, who cannot be named because he is a minor, pleaded guilty on September 5 to a charge of negligence causing death with a firearm, according to Jean-Pascal Boucher, a representative of the prosecutor.
The initial charge of manslaughter was dropped in a plea bargain.
The young man had previously pleaded guilty to two prior charges, one for a prior robbery with firearm and a shoplifting charge.
Some evidence still remains to be presented and a judge will proceed with sentencing arguments on September 23.
