Here's a list of what's open and closed for the holidays in Montreal:

Closed

  • Most federal offices
  • Canada Post (Dec 25, 26 and Jan. 1)
  • Banks (Dec 25, 26 and Jan. 1, 2)
  • Most provincial offices
  • Revenu Québec
  • Most municipal offices
  • Accès Montreal counters
  • Montreal Municipal Court
  • Ecocentres

Open

  • Société des alcools du Québec (SAQ) and SAQ Express (except Dec 25 and Jan. 1, 2)
  • Société québécoise du cannabis (SQDC) (except Dec 25 and Jan. 1, 2)
  • Most shopping malls (except Dec. 25 and Jan. 1)
  • Public markets (except Dec. 25, 26 and Jan. 1,2)
  • The Planetarium, Biodôme, Insectarium, Biosphère and Botanical Gardens (except Dec. 24, 25)
  • Esplanade Tranquille skating rink in the Quartier des spectacles
  • Check the schedules of your local community centres, sports centres and libraries before leaving the house.

Parking, pick-up and more

  • Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is operating on a holiday schedule on Dec. 25, 26 and Jan. 1, 2. 
  • Adapted transit service is available, but users must make a reservation at least one day in advance.
  • Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL) is running on a Saturday schedule on Dec. 24, 26, 31 and Jan. 2, and a Sunday schedule on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
  • Société de transport de Laval (STL) is functioning on a Saturday schedule on Dec. 24, 26, 31 and Jan. 2, and a reduced Sunday schedule on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
  • The Réseau express métropolitain (REM) is operating on a Sunday schedule on Dec. 25, 26 and Jan. 1.
  • Exo is running on a Sunday schedule on Dec. 25, 26 and Jan. 1, Jan. 2. 
  • Parking meters are still operational
  • Garbage, recycling and other pick-ups that would usually be on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 have been rescheduled. Check your borough website for more information.
