Some Montrealers are knee deep in Christmas year-round
While Christmas is tomorrow to most of the world, one store in Montreal celebrates the Yule season year-round.
Caroline Doucet is the director at Noel Eternel, where decorations and other Christmas-ware are on every shelf.
“We're elves 365 days a year here,” said Doucet. “I am a Christmas enthusiast. I'm extremely passionate about it. I love it.”
Doucet said her customers are equally passionate about the holidays.
“I have customers who keep their Christmas tree up year round,” she said.
Denise Hupe is one such person, who kicked off her celebrations in November with a Christmas cruise that was booked over a year ago. It was so popular that she almost didn’t get a spot.
“First cruise was sold out within two hours, and then they decided two weeks later to do a second cruise,” she said.
Le Petit Dep on Saint Laurent Boulevard launched its first ever holiday pop up – Taverne De Noel – this year.
“When you walk in here, you just feel good,” said founder Magda Slezak.
However, the holiday hoopla takes time to set up.
“Once Christmas passes and people are packing up, tearing down the tree, I'm planning the next year of Christmas,” said Doucet.
CTV News political analyst Raphael Melancon said he gets ready for the holiday months in advance.
“I'm not going to lie, I'm probably listening to Christmas music in the summer,” he said. “The house was full of joy, full of love. So to me, Christmas is really a time to remember about this, to celebrate this, to pursue the traditions.”
