The daughter of noted judge John Gomery is among three candidates running in Cote-des-Neiges-N.D.G. for the environmentalist party known as Project Montreal.

Cym Gomery is a longtime writer, environmentalist and social activist who has lived in N.D.G. for several years.

She says she was motivated to get into politics after watching her father preside over the Gomery commission into fraud and kickbacks that riddled the federal sponsorship program in the 1990s and early 2000s.

Cym Gomery will be running for city councillor in the Loyola district that's currently represented by political veteran Warren Allmand.

Other candidates

The two other candidates running for Project Montreal are N.D.G food bank worker Peter McQueen and Magda Popeanu, who has been Projet Montreal's president since 2006.

Municipal elections will be held on Nov. 1.
