A 25-year-old cyclist suffered serious head injuries after falling from his bicycle while riding along St. Antoine just west of Robert Bourassa (formerly University).

The area is part of a construction zone that has surfaces of massive steel plates that can tend to be slippery and it appears that the rider lost control of his bicycle and hit a hard surface at about 9 p.m.

The impact was so severe it the front wheel of his bicycle was knocked off. No other vehicles were involved in the collision.
